Thank you so much for your concern. It feels good to know people care and it also makes me feel guilty (good thing - you know, accountable). I've been on a game playing binge, which means I spend hours playing games on my computer (mindlessly), sacrificing e-mail and blogging which takes hours in itself and takes more thinking, which of course takes more effort. I have a tendency toward addictive and compulsive behaviors (adhd). I'm very distractible and have trouble focusing or concentrating at times and yet can zero in on something like games or researching and be at it for hours.

I need to set up a calendar and to-do list and schedule so that I have structure. This structure would allow me to accomplish more and actually get things done that need to get done. Believe me, I understand the concept, the problem has always been my refusal or inability to follow a schedule once I make it. I do so enjoy creating rather then maintaining. I shall, however, try again. Maybe more want to's and less have to's will help. I would certainly appreciate your prayers in that direction.

Fruits & Nuts

Hot diggity dog, it's official. I am now a member of Nisey's Fruits and Nuts Club. My official name is Crunchy Cashew. I just don't know what to say. I'm overwhelmed. It's so nice to know that my clumsiness and slightly quirky ways have not gone totally unnoticed even when so heavily blanketed with nice, happy and conservative. Of course it could be she's letting anybody in, but don't burst my bubble.

My stats page returned last night so I presume that most of the rest of you have yours now. Are you happy? Let's say altogether now - be patient, they are working the bugs out. I sure did miss it for seeing who had stopped by (or if anybody had). I have to laugh at the numbers though. They're so wacko since I was featured on Best of. Prior to being featured my count was 700 and now it's over 17,000! Who knows, maybe a few of the people that stopped by will have liked my space well enough to return.

I have a question for some of you. The fonts available in the blog editor are very few and not my favorties, but I've seen other fonts used in some of your blogs. Are you writing your blogs in another program (such as word) and then copying it over into the blog editor? I know that sounds very basic, but I just hadn't thought about doing it that way. I think I just answered my own question, duh!

Talking about Friends feature

Just in case some of you havn't been over to Aunt Tea's space lately and seen her post about the new friends feature I've copied it for you here. I thought it was quite good.

MSN live space's friends feature.

I'm liking this feature. I think it's like getting a great new high tech pair of athletic shoes for blog walking. I tried them on this afternoon and went out for one of my walks and I felt a new spring in my step.

When I open my friends list all of your homemade profile tiles spread out before me. I can click on yours and see all of your friends open in a new box, without leaving my page. Still without leaving my page, I can view their contact cards or jump to their spaces. If I know that I want to be coming back for visits to their page, I can quickly click the add to my friends list button, and explore their friends list, or go back to the friends lists I have open at my space. I found I was able to visit several pages in a much shorter time, because it didn't require exploring a page, looking and clicking from their favorite blogs list, and comments and looking looking looking for signs of new potential space friends.

I found several blogs that I had wanted to revisit some time ago but had lost track of them. It was fun to find them again and some of them had pretty good looking friends. I came back from my walk invigorated, and looking forward to going out again.

I really think that this will make it much easier for new spacers to find friends.

Does this make MSN live spaces like myspace? I think not. Myspace members blog very little, and make random, often silly comments to their friends. Many of their comments are just graphics. Not much real conversation. Myspacers collect lots of "friends" but they don't talk to them. I enjoy myspace for connecting and reconnecting to people in real life that don't live in my neck of the woods anymore, and it's a kick to see how some of their kids have grown up, but it's not the place for serious blogging, or meaningful online community relationship. It's not a place to share readership. "Friends" has a different meaning in the MSN blogging community.

Is the friends module a bit like a high school year book? It reminds me of something a little different. An old fashioned church directory complete with professional annual photos of all the members. I have always enjoyed looking through such directories. Seeing the changes in families through the years, finding out the name of the dear old Lady whose name I've forgotten 3 times. And that guy that is always mowing the church lawn, it turns out that he is married to the gal that keeps the coffee pot going, and the little girl that is always drinking at the water fountain belongs to them.

On the inside of the cover, a list of names is jotted down... ( think list of blogs that you visit) ...one by one, as it is realized that you want easy and frequent access to their phone numbers. These are the people that you talk with on a more personal basis. The people that you know more intimately. the people that share their thoughts and wisdom, humor and rants...and listen to yours too.

Will there be competition over friends lists? Perhaps. Some just can't resist. Didn't a bunch of us rise up and REALLY vote when friends were being featured? Didn't we encourage this? As long as it is fun and promotes camaraderie...why not? If it's not your thing, the chips and salsa on the sidelines are pretty good. (do cheer now and then)

If we keep writing, and reading, and visiting...it's all good.

That's my five cents.

Where Does It All End?

My goodness, there are just not enough hours in the day. I keep finding more and more spaces I would enjoy visiting and being the easily side tracked person that I am I find myself lost in reading/viewing and suddenly 2 hours have gone by and then I find it's been 3 or 4 or 5 days since I've been to some of my favorites. Am I going to have to put myself on a schedule? Do I have to make a list? Do I need to restrict myself to only the most recent entries? That'll be the day! I've never gotten along too well with lists and schedules (you know, that discipline thing). Maybe I'll give a calendar another try and actually get something done around the house ;o).

I love MochaMomma's new site. What a prolific writer and obviously popular. You've got to get over to Television and read his stuff - you'll split a gut. If you haven't heard - EZ on the Eyes is moving from Pennsylvania to Alabama and is keeping us informed along the way. 3 Hour Tour is having a very busy summer, but still finds time to keep us up to date. And the list goes on and on but, its 2:00 am and I just have to quit for now.

I Can't Believe It!

Wow! You other bloggers have really inspired me. Me, who says I'm not a writer, who has never kept a diary or a jounal (except when required for some college classes) now find myself writing. Heck, I've never even been able to keep a planner up because I don't take the time & effort to enter stuff and follow it (and a planner would really help a disorganized ADD person like myself). If truth be known it's probably the 'follow it' that's the problem, but don't tell anyone . I've bought a journal for each of my road trips and not kept it past the first 3 days. In fact, I've bought dozens of planners & journals over the years and not used them past a few days. They're pretty and I like them and I know they would help - but only if you use them! I'm a slow writer and coupled with the fact that I want it to be perfect makes me even slower. So, more often than not, I just don't do it. It takes so much time and effort.

I think that I'm finding this fun because of the interaction with all you other bloggers. On the one hand there is anonymity - who knows if anyone will ever read this stuff - which gives you a little bit of freedom. On the other hand there is the pleasant surprise when someone leaves a comment and you know that someone has taken the time to read what you wrote.

The most fun of all, of course, is visiting the other blogs to laugh, cry, ponder and commiserate (and steal their ideas for layout and content ). I realize that I'm probably obsessive/compulsive, but hey, nobody's perfect.
